Airlie Dedciates LEED Gold Pavilion During Earth Week Celebration

. May 09, 2014

Warrenton, VA - May 9, 2014 - With the backdrop of a colorful Spring Day, Airlie executives invited members of the Head family, Washington dignitaries, board members, community leaders and friends to share in celebrating the dedication of the Airlie's LEED Gold Pavilion. Founder Dr. Murdock Head opened the Conference center in 1961.

The LEED Gold Pavilion was dedicated to the Head family in honor of their over half-century long commitment to the environment and to preserving the exquisite piece of countryside so that it might be enjoyed by all Airlie visitors. The Head family name will continue to be honored through their legacy of establishing a culture of environmental stewardship and sustainability. “The team at Airlie created a comprehensive environmental management system, earned five nationally recognized environmental certifications and continues to lead the way in environmental excellence,” states Kevin T. Carter, Managing Director.

Mr. Jason Hartke, Vice President of National Policy with the U.S. Green Building Council, was the esteemed speaker for the afternoon's celebration. A former Clinton administration member, Mr. Hartke is a voice in Washington, D.C. for clean energy and the environment, working to advance the U.S. Green Building Council's national agenda and deliver the integrated environmental, economic and social benefits of green building policy solutions.

The Pavilion features an octagon shaped design with glass walls, giving panoramic views of lush grounds, landscaping walls and stone arches. Geothermally climate controlled for year round comfort, guests will enjoy the graceful outdoor feel of this impressive space. The pavilion also boasts an elegant southern style veranda for overflow seating or cocktail hour and is adjacent to the beautiful outdoor gardens. About Airlie
