January 30, 2014 - DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Worldwide announced the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff following a nine-month, multi-million dollar renovation. The newly upgraded 183-room property, formerly an independent hotel, is located along the iconic Route 66, two miles from historic downtown Flagstaff, and just five miles from Flagstaff Pulliam Airport and 140 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

For guests seeking to enjoy the breathtaking natural sites the area has to offer, DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff serves as an ideal base for visiting popular destinations such as Grand Canyon National Park (75 miles), the Petrified National Forest (111 miles) and Meteor Crater (45 miles). The hotel is owned by Uniwell Corporation and managed by Granite Hospitality. This year marks Uniwell's 25th year of ownership of the hotel.

DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff debuts with a modern-rustic design inspired by the region's natural surroundings. The property-wide renovation, led by Los Angeles-based Level 3 Design Group, includes comprehensive updates and new furnishings throughout all of the public areas and guest rooms. The hotel's open and airy design is complemented by striking accents such as natural rock and wood features and a see-through fireplace that serves as the focal point of a cozy lobby/lounge area. Artwork displayed throughout the hotel reflects the landscape of Flagstaff, and guest rooms offer serene views of the nearby pine forest and sprawling mountains of Arizona.

“We are excited to announce our brand's entry into Flagstaff with this opening,” said John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. “Flagstaff is a rich destination for both business and leisure travelers, and we look forward to catering to guests seeking an upscale, full-service hotel offering and the unparalleled service culture for which the DoubleTree by Hilton brand is known - starting with the warm chocolate chip cookie welcome upon arrival.”

DoubleTree by Hilton Flagstaff offers 6,500 square feet of flexible meeting and banquet facilities, including seven meeting rooms ranging in size from 460 square feet to a 3,900 square foot Grand Ballroom which can accommodate up to 400 people. Guests can also stay connected and productive with the hotel's new 24-hour complimentary business center.

With two unique restaurants, the hotel offers menu options to suit every taste. Sakura Teppanyaki & Sushi, first opened in 1990 as Flagstaff's original sushi bar, features tableside grilling and a delectable menu of Japanese fare. Woodlands Restaurant & Lobby Lounge, open for all-day dining, offers a diverse menu of Southwestern and Asian cuisines.

“This transformation comes as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering a premier hotel experience for the Flagstaff community,” said Shawn Doyle, president, Granite Hospitality. “Becoming a DoubleTree by Hilton, a brand known around the world for its tremendous service culture, allows us to continue improving on the exceptional service guests have come to expect of our talented team - starting with the beautiful property enhancements and continuing with the brand's signature touches."

In addition to the warm cookie welcome, guests will also enjoy DoubleTree by Hilton brand exclusives, including an assortment of gourmet in-room tea and coffee choices from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf®, a refreshing array of CITRON body care products by Crabtree & Evelyn and an industry-recognized service culture built around the idea of CARE, which stands for Create a Rewarding Experience, for guests, team members and the community. Each guest room and suite is equipped with a series of modern facilities and supplies, including wireless internet access and the signature DoubleTree by Hilton SweetDreamsTM bed. Guests can enjoy a 24-hour fitness center featuring all new equipment, outdoor seasonal pool and hot tub, and large indoor whirlpool spa.

Hilton HHonors members will be able to earn and redeem points with their stay. To mark the opening, the hotel will offer double Hilton HHonors points on the best available rate for stays completed through May 28, 2014.
