ROSEMONT, IL - November 8, 2013 - To celebrate the grand opening of the Residence Inn by Marriott Omaha Downtown, Rosemont, Ill.-based First Hospitality Group, Inc. held a ribbon-cutting and charity fundraising party at the hotel on October 24. First Hospitality Group, Inc. President and COO Robert Habeeb made the announcement.

As a result of the event auction, and a personal donation from First Hospitality Group CEO Stephen L. Schwartz, the event raised more than two thousand dollars for the Team Jack Foundation, which raises money to fund pediatric brain cancer research.

“There is no better way to celebrate the opening of this beautiful hotel and express our gratitude to all of our partners on this wonderful historic conversion project than to come together in honor of such an admirable goal an impact on community organization; fighting pediatric brain cancer,” said Habeeb.
Speeches were given in the Hearth Room by the hotel's general manager Kyle Highberg, the hotel's Director of Sales Page Rust, Mike Nelson of Nelson construction, Deb Ward of the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau and First Hospitality Group CEO Stephen L. Schwartz.

The 152-suite hotel was formerly known as the historic Omaha Federal Building. After a $23 million renovation, the hotel now features elegant Marriott Gen 10 package rooms as well as a 1,000-square-foot penthouse suite on the privately accessed 12th floor that offers panoramic views of Omaha and a private rooftop patio. Many of the original characteristics and building materials including the original marble, terrazzo tile, wooden railings and brass fixtures were timelessly preserved.
