SAN FRANCISCO - October 28, 2013 - This holiday season, The Fairmont San Francisco will present visitors from near and far with a sweet treat for the eyes. Starting on November 30, the hotel lobby will transform into a dazzling holiday destination where moments are turned into cherished memories for locals and guests alike! The pinnacle of this jaw-dropping display will be the two-story giant Gingerbread House in the hotel's grand lobby. Lovingly built with a completely edible exterior, this delectable abode will be unveiled during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the annual Gingerbread Open House on Saturday, November 30, from 11:00am-2:00pm. The event, which is open to the public, offers guests the opportunity to take pleasure in complimentary holiday refreshments and heart-warming music in the Main Lobby while Santa Claus poses for photos. Kids can also write letters to Saint Nick in the lobby's “North Pole Nook” all season long (Fairmont guarantees speedy delivery to the North Pole). Dog-lovers will also delight in a special appearance by Gentleman Norman, author of “How to Be a Man,” and a long-time Fairmont San Francisco VIP (Very Important Pomeranian).

For more than a century, The Fairmont San Francisco has enchanted guests with its joyful holiday festivities and exuberant seasonal ambience. Once again, the Fairmont elves are working overtime this season to create the iconic hotel's unparalleled interior and exterior holiday decor. The Fairmont San Francisco's talented culinary team has meticulously planned for construction of this year's enormous Gingerbread House, which will be equal in size to last year's stunning, two-story-high Victorian. Once complete, the house will stand more than 22 feet high and 23 feet wide and include thousands of home-baked gingerbread bricks and more than a ton of royal icing and candy decor.

The Gingerbread House will certainly take center stage and fill the halls with its sweet aroma, but the property's holiday trees are also impressive in their own right. Once again, The Fairmont San Francisco will feature a sparkling holiday tree of lights atop its Tower Building that will be visible throughout the city. Guests can also enjoy the enchanting 23-foot-tall Christmas tree tickling the center of the ceiling in the Main Lobby, the celebrated Molinari Family Nutcracker Collection and beautiful holiday decorations courtesy of Silk Peddlers. In the spirit of the season, a donation box benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be set up next to the Gingerbread House, which will be on display through January 1, 2014.
