October 7, 2013 - The Europacity District in Berlin will be able to boast a new attraction from 1 October 2013, when the new InterCityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof opposite the city's main railway station receives its first guests. Located at the heart of the metropolis and within the immediate vicinity of the Government District and the Brandenburg Gate, the new InterCityHotel is set to appeal to business travellers and tourists alike.

"We are extremely proud to be launching our new group flagship today", commented Joachim Marusczyk, Managing Director of InterCityHotel GmbH. "The hotel's new design concept, its size and its extraordinarily good location at Berlin Central Station opposite the Chancellery are all highly impressive aspects."

The 412 rooms feature air conditioning as well as being equipped with satellite TV including Sky channels free of charge. Disabled-accessible guest rooms are available if required. A conference facility extending over a total area of 515 m2 is in place for meetings and events. The conference area also has a Business Corner and ten conference rooms with natural daylight and capable of flexible combination. All events rooms are fitted with sophisticated technology, and genuine added value is also offered in the form of free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. A restaurant, a bistro/lounge and a bar all help meet gastronomic requirements. One particular perk is the InterCityHotel "FreeCityTicket" scheme, which enables guests to use Berlin's public transport system free of charge.

"The InterCityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof strongly underlines our commitment to Berlin as well as setting a new yardstick by assuming a pioneering role in the upper mid-range segment", said Puneet Chhatwal, CEO of Steigenberger Hotels AG. "We now have three InterCityHotels in Berlin, and next year will also see the opening of a close neighbour in the shape of the Steigenberger Hotel Am Kanzleramt."
