Kraemer Design Group Completes Design of Holiday Inn San Antonio Riverwalk
DETROIT, MI - September 30, 2013 - Detroit-based Kraemer Design Group, PLC (KDG) announced today the completion of one of its many notable hotel projects, adding to the firm's extensive hospitality design portfolio: A completely custom architectural and interior redesign of the Holiday Inn San Antonio Riverwalk. The 23-story, 313-room Holiday Inn San Antonio Riverwalk is the first property nationally to introduce Intercontinental Hotel Group's (IHG) “Breeze” standard room design scheme, centered on modern and open layouts with a fresh, clean aesthetic. The Holiday Inn is a central part of the San Antonio Riverwalk's historic district, thus KDG's expertise in adaptive reuse was essential in this design project.
To update the appearance of the hotel, which first opened in 1987 to meet IHG's 2013 brand standards while providing travelers with all of the modern lodging conveniences, KDG tackled a number of design challenges, including closing in balconies to increase square footage in the guest rooms and restructuring the multi-tiered restaurant to become more handicap accessible.
