The Garden City Hotel Unveils Multi-million Dollar Restoration

. August 27, 2013

August 27, 2013 - The historic Garden City Hotel has announced the completion of a multi-million dollar restoration to public spaces within the hotel, including the legendary grand ballroom and lobby.

Morris Moinian, Principal and Founder of Fortuna Realty Group who recently acquired the iconic property, said, “This significant transformation beautifully redefines what I perceive to be one of Long Island's most prestigious venues for weddings, gala events and all special occasions.”

The hotel redesigned its expansive lobby with imported custom Italian furnishings by Felice Tedeschi of Tedeschi USA featuring classic-contemporary pieces in the seating areas throughout the space. Detailed changes also include a custom 30-foot Venetian Murano crystal chandelier, a complete restoration of its marble floors and painstaking revival of the elaborate millwork to its original grandeur.

The project meticulously rejuvenated the 6,000 square foot grand ballroom from floor to ceiling, including the gleaming, gold leafing of its coffered ceiling, which further illuminates the room's stunning crystal chandeliers. The floor of the famed Rotunda - known as the ideal location for cocktail receptions - has been refreshed with new Nourison carpeting designed in a modern print of gold and deep reds also installed in the ballroom and extends to its adjoining reception spaces, the Grand Salon, Petit Salon and Concorde Suite, on the same level. Finishing touches include custom Versailles-style chairs and a collection of brand new tabletop details.

"It is the beginning of a new era for The Garden City Hotel,” said Grady Colin, general manager. “We look forward to impressing our returning, as well as a new generation of, discerning guests.”
