San Diego Marriott Mission Valley Completes $9 Million Renovation of Guest Rooms and Public Spaces

San Diego, CA - July 15, 2013 - The San Diego Marriott Mission Valley has just completed a $9 million renovation project, it was announced by Erikk Hilgert , General Manager.

According to Mr. Hilgert, the renovation encompassed the hotel lobby, all 350 guest rooms, six new Parlor Suites, an additional floor of Concierge Rooms to accommodate Marriott Rewards® travelers, the Concierge Lounge, and outdoor spaces. "We spent a great deal of time listening to guest comments with regard to what they felt would enhance their experience, and as a result, our renovation plan included many of these improvements as well as items which we felt would make our property greener, more guest friendly, and enable us to take our service standards to the next level by incorporating built-in efficiencies," notes Mr. Hilgert.

The primary focus of the renovation was on the guest rooms which now feature new furnishings - including a work desk and ergonomic chair - plus interior doors, bedding, decor, lighting, telephone systems, RFID lock systems (which means no more demagnetized keys), HVAC systems, new in-room computer safes, and wireless Internet access. The corridors were also redone with new wall coverings, floor coverings, and lighting, and complimentary wireless Internet is now available in all public areas.

The hotel lobby has also been renovated providing more seating. Additionally, the work spaces of key management have been moved to the lobby to create a concierge-like presence and enable them to be more accessible to engage with guests, assist with check-in when necessary, and interact easily with other staff members.

Mr. Hilgert notes that additionally the hotel enhanced many of its signature outdoor areas where guests love to relax, providing more seating as well as completely redoing the gardens to incorporate succulents and other plants which have reduced the hotel's external water usage by as much as 80%.
