Winter Park's Newest Boutique Hotel, The Alfond Inn, Announces Opening Date of August 18
Winter Park, Florida - July 12, 2013 - The Alfond Inn, the new boutique hotel designed for both visitors and the community of Winter Park, Florida, will open its doors for guests on August 18, 2013. The Alfond Inn, a Preferred Boutique Hotel, will feature 112-guest rooms in a variety of layouts, from comfortable Classic Kings to a majestic Presidential Suite. All guest rooms come equipped with complimentary High Speed Wireless Internet Access, iPod docking stations and flat screen televisions, as well as oversized workstations. The Inn also offers over 10,000 square feet of meeting space, a grand Ballroom and will open Hamilton's Kitchen, a new restaurant with a Floridian-inspired menu. Guests of the Alfond Inn will have access to the hotel's fitness center and pool. The Alfond Inn is also pet friendly, welcoming dogs in designated pet-friendly rooms and suites. Pets can expect water bowls, a doggy gift basket and signature treats at turndown.
Introductory "Welcome Rates" start at $99 per night, based on double occupancy, and are good through September 30, 2013.
A Philanthropic and Sustainable Business Model
The Alfond Inn's unusual philanthropic and sustainable business model also sets it apart. Owned by Rollins College, a private coeducational liberal arts college in Winter Park, The Alfond Inn was built with a $12.5-million grant from the Harold Alfond Foundation. Net operating income from the Inn will endow The Alfond Scholars program. This is Rollins College's premier scholarship fund, and it offers full scholarships and provides additional financial aid to deserving students. Income will be directed to the fund over the next 25 years or until the endowment principal reaches $50 million, whichever comes later.
New Social Hub of Winter Park
The Alfond Inn is a groundbreaking boutique hotel for the Winter Park area, which has long been in need of an upscale property for leisure travelers, business travelers, and the weddings and meetings market. Chef Windus comes to The Alfond Inn fresh from his tenure as executive chef of Todd English's bluezoo at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel. The restaurant features exposed beams, a farmer's table, and Dutch oak floors as the backdrop for Chef Windus' Floridian-inspired cooking at breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Hamilton's Kitchen will also include a private dining room, accommodating from 12 to 36 guests.

The Alfond Inn has created a beautiful and welcoming backdrop for weddings and social affairs, from the glass-domed Conservatory to 10,000 square feet of lushly landscaped gardens.
