The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel Poised to Celebrate its 30th Anniversary

Newly Enhanced Guestrooms Offer Vibrant Design and Embrace the Spectacular Oceanfront Setting

. June 18, 2013

June 18, 2013 - As The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel approaches its 30th anniversary, the transformation of the resort continues with the unveiling of recent enhancements to all 396 guestrooms. The new design reflects the sparkle of the Pacific Ocean and creates a sense of warmth. Outdoor fireplaces are prominently featured on the patios of first floor oceanfront rooms, providing a respite where guests can celebrate simple pleasures like savoring s'mores or toasting the sunset with a glass of wine.

When the resort opened on August 27, 1984, the coast of south Orange County became a premiere luxury vacation destination. Over the years, other resorts opened, but none with the spectacular beachfront location and extraordinary service of The Ritz-Carlton. To remain relevant among new competition, the resort had to reimagine itself.

“As the destination's very first resort, we've worked hard to invest strategically, which is a testament to our ongoing commitment to this iconic resort and world-class destination,” commented General Manager Bruce Brainerd. “We challenged the designers, architects and restaurateurs to fully meet the potential of our oceanfront location and they delivered. This transformation has truly unleashed our potential and has validated our strategy to evolve through innovation in order to lead in the luxury marketplace,” said Brainerd.

In additional to the guestroom enhancement, other major features of the re-imagination project included four new restaurant concepts, a world-class eco-adventure center, a complete upgrade of the more than 26,000 square feet of meeting space, and a major enhancement to the gardens and landscape. A visually stunning experience has been created throughout the property that echoes the Pacific Ocean and active California lifestyle while still emphasizing unparalleled Ritz-Carlton service.

Chief among the updates was the addition of 180blũ, an outdoor oceanfront lounge featuring panoramic views of the California coast and the Pacific Ocean. Raya, a dining experience fashioned by Chef Richard Sandoval, enoSTEAK, a boutique steakhouse featuring local organic produce and grass fed meats, and The Market Place, a grab-and-go lifestyle outlet, highlight new and creative dining options at the resort.

The transformation also included the launch of the resort's Eco-Adventure Center, bringing exciting and unique eco-adventures to life. Led by expert naturalists, each excursion is dedicated to showcasing Southern California's natural wonders. Through these adventures, the resort's surroundings become a natural classroom and living laboratory in which kids, families, adults and groups learn while having fun.
