. May 14, 2013

May 14, 2013 - Sanctuary Retreats is pleased to announce the expansion of their portfolio in Tanzania with two new luxury lodges. A relaxing river retreat and an intimate beach hideaway join Sanctuary Retreats on June 1st, extending their boutique safari camps and lodges portfolio across Africa.

Katherine Gershon, Sanctuary Retreats Sales & Marketing Director commented, "We are delighted to expand our luxury collection of safari camps/lodges and cruise ships with the addition of these two stunning properties in Tanzania. With the unique proposition of both safari and beach in one place at Safari Lodge and a relaxing river retreat with great bird watching at River Lodge, these properties give agents an ideal choice when selling a true luxury safari experience in a remote and unspoilt African location."

Sanctuary Saadani River Lodge
Sanctuary Saadani River Lodge is located just outside of Saadani National Park on the southern shore of the Wami River. It is the perfect natural eco-retreat for relaxation and wildlife viewing with hippos, crocodiles and flamingos as neighbors. The peaceful and luxurious lodge has 18 treehouse-style suites built from local Pinewood, Mtondoro hardwood and Teak wood, each with balconies and river views with full en-suite bathrooms. The River Lodge has a stunning split-level swimming pool that overlooks the natural backdrop of the river. Offering seclusion and proximity to natural elements and wildlife, each suite offers the perfect “hideaway” for any traveller.

The Wami Suite is the property's most exclusive. For the ultimate secluded escape, it is a private villa with its own infinity pool, two bedrooms and bathrooms, a living room and dining room. It is hidden within the lush jungle, offering intimacy and remote romance.

Activities at Sanctuary Saadani River Lodge include: guided mountain biking, walking and bird-watching safaris, game drives in Saadani National Park and boat trips on the Wami River to see wildlife, bush meals and sundowner cocktails, catch and release fishing, sailing on a traditional dhow and massage treatments.

Sanctuary Saadani Safari Lodge
Located on a deserted white sandy beach on the Southern border within Saadani National Park is Sanctuary Saadani Safari Lodge. It is a magnificent property overlooking the Indian Ocean and stunning East African coastline. The lodge is unique in that it offers a traditional bush safari with the relaxation of a “beach safari” holiday.

There are six luxurious suites in total, each offering stunning ocean views. There are five Maridadi Suites with private verandas leading straight to the beach, each with four-poster beds, a private outdoor shower, and a living area and spacious bathrooms with monsoon showers and Africology toiletries. There is a family suite with two bedrooms and bathrooms, two outdoor showers and separate living room. For the ultimate luxury, the Siri Suite offers complete privacy, set away from the other suites with its own private pool, indoor and outdoor living space and private watering hole.

Activities at Sanctuary Saadani Safari Lodge include: game drives in Saadani National Park, snorkeling, turtle and dolphin spotting and sand bank picnics. River safaris on the Wami River are also available, where guests spot hippos, crocodiles and a fantastic array of rich bird life.

Rates: Prices at Sanctuary Saadani River Lodge start from $340 per person per night and at Sanctuary Saadani Safari Lodge from $395 per night. Prices based on double occupancy and include a daily game drive or river excursion, laundry and breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and drinks.
