Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino Re-imagines the Guest Experience

. April 26, 2013

April 26, 2013 - Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino is re-imagining its guest experience, with guestroom enhancements designed to capture the resort's unique combination of urban sophistication and tropical simplicity. These contrasting attributes will be delicately balanced in the contemporary new design of guestrooms at the adult-exclusive Marina Hotel.

This major design project, led by Long Island City, N.Y. based Dash Design, focuses heavily on evoking a sense of place, playing off the resort's location in the island's cultural center of Oranjestad and incorporating indigenous elements for a result that is distinctly Aruban. More than $20,000 will be invested in each of the Marina Hotel's 297 guestrooms to give them a contemporary residential feel, with design cues referencing that of a custom yacht. Guests will be treated to a soothing palate of rich woods, silvery creams, off whites and splashes of aqua that balance the natural colors of Aruba's crystal clear sea and sparkling sands. Natural materials like hemp rope will mix with the polished contemporary style of oiled wood and white lacquered panels.

An L-shaped sofa at the room's entrance will wrap the wall to the headboard of the bed and nightstands. Gone are the standard dresser, desk and chair, and in their place are cozy spaces designed with couples in mind - ideal for lounging, dining or just kicking back and taking in the view. The rooms will be well suited for relaxing at any time of the day, with the addition of sheer layered drapes and thoughtful positioning of the bed closer to the window, maximizing daylight and creating nighttime drama with indirect lighting. Closet interiors will be lined with vintage island postcards, further evoking local spirit. Sleek, modern bathrooms will reinforce the design concept, incorporating simple, yet elegant materials like polished nickel, porcelain tiles, white quartz counter tops, backlit mirrors and rain-style spa showers.

The features that have made the Renaissance room product synonymous with comfort will remain, such Renaissance's revive bedding featuring 300 thread count sheets, down comforters, sheeted duvet covers, thicker mattresses with plush toppers and fluffier pillows. Rooms will also incorporate LCD televisions and wireless internet.

“The new design transforms our guestrooms into sexy, yet accessible, spaces that reflect what couples who are attracted to the Marina Hotel are seeking,” said Janien Huistra, Director of Sales and Marketing. “With these enhancements, we're inviting guests on a sensory journey where they can discover the type of intriguing, indigenous and independent experiences Renaissance is known for.”

In addition to the new, contemporary look and feel, Renaissance Aruba offers customized services to help guests immerse themselves in the culture of the island, such as the Navigator program in which on-site experts curate “In The Know” itineraries incorporating off-the-radar, hyper-local food and drink, shopping, music, entertainment and cultural experiences. Guests can also access recommendations via the mobile Navigator app. Renaissance Aruba also offers interactive experiences through the RLife Live platform, which gives resort guests and locals the chance to enjoy live entertainment and engage directly with musical, culinary and artistic talent on-site through events such as live performances, chef demonstrations, meet and greet opportunities and more.

The current phase of the renovation project will be completed this fall. The 258 one-bedroom suites at the resort's family friendly Ocean Suites property are scheduled to undergo renovations in 2014.
