340-room Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island Opens in South Carolina

Hilton Head Island, SC - April 5, 2013 - Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island officially opens as an all-new resort on Thursday, April 4th. The property is finalizing a $30M total renovation of its 340 rooms and common spaces, and has added a spa to its offerings. The resort also offers guests a shaded lap pool and Jacuzzi, as well as a zero entry-heated lagoon swimming pool and children's area. The 331 rooms and nine suites are designed to highlight the look and feel of the South Carolina Lowcountry and Hilton Head Island, featuring contemporary and welcoming natural tones of the ocean, coral, and beach.

The renovation of the entire resort began in December 2012, featuring the Atlanta-based design firm of Sims Patrick Studio, Inc. and the architectural firm designONE studio.

The new rooms and suites have custom furniture and living spaces, ideal for families and business travelers alike. In-room furnishings include an oversized desk, pullout sofa and ottomans for additional seating. Bathrooms provide guests with a modern feel with vanities, fixtures, porcelain walls and tile floor. Guest balconies also provide enhanced views of the resort and ocean.

The resort's new meetings and event space features 23,000 square feet of function space and are able to accommodate up to 1,000 guests. Meeting space includes the 10,000-square-foot Santee Ballroom and 7,000-square-foot Oceanfront Pavilion near the beach.

Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island has partnered with the Heritage Collection on Hilton Head Island and resort guests will have access to seven championship golf courses located at four of the island's premier golf courses. A variety of packages will be available to guests throughout the year. Resort guests can also enjoy 20 tennis courts at Van Der Meer Tennis located within the Shipyard complex.

Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island offers guests a variety of dining options at the resort between Bayley's Lobby Bar and Terrace, Heyward's Restaurant, Seacrest and Sweet Cane dining experiences. From casual poolside dining and beverages, to Lowcountry cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island provides local beverages and dining unique to the Lowcountry in intimate indoor and outdoor settings.

The new full-service Arum Spa features three private treatment rooms, a manicure/pedicure room and a post-treatment relaxation room for guests. An emphasis will be placed on providing spa guests with a truly Lowcountry spa experience highlighting local products and scents such as jasmine and sea salts.
