March 12, 2013 - Rachel Harrison has been named Chief Marketing Officer at Island Outpost, the low-key luxury resort group in Jamaica owned by Chris Blackwell.

Harrison will be responsible for creating and implementing the marketing strategy for all Island Outpost properties, enhancing brand identity, creating strategic partnerships and managing sales and public relations. Harrison's first project for Blackwell will be overseeing the re-design of Island Outpost's websites, to be re-launched in May of 2013.

Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records and Island Outpost, is well known for his eye for talent, having put Bob Marley and U2 on the map. He hand-picked Harrison to join the Island Outpost leadership team, saying that “Ms. Harrison's extensive experience in public relations, marketing, and branding for luxury hotels and resorts makes her a true asset to Island Outpost and a key figure in the future of the company.”

Harrison comes to Island Outpost with 15 years of branding, marketing, and communications experience. Most recently she served as Director of Communications for Andaz by Hyatt, where she was integral in the worldwide launch of Hyatt's newest brand. Previous roles include Vice President at Dan Klores Communications and serving as one of the original members of Emanate Public Relations (a division of Ketchum).

“I have been a huge fan of Chris Blackwell and Island Outpost for years - I love that they make Jamaica the star of the show, with GoldenEye, Strawberry Hill, and The Caves serving as the ultimate front row seats,” said Harrison. “I am thrilled to have been asked to join the Island Outpost team and am excited to share the message of how special Jamaica and each of the properties are.”

Island Outpost is an award-winning collection of hotels in Jamaica, owned by music industry legend Chris Blackwell. Blackwell's low-key luxury hotels include Ian Fleming's north coast retreat, GoldenEye; Strawberry Hill in the Blue Mountains; and The Caves on the cliffs of Negril. Each Island Outpost property has its own singular sense of style, with stunning natural settings and locally-inspired architecture and design.
