Jeffrey Beers Designing New Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico

. October 25, 2012

New York, NY - October 25, 2012 - RCD Resorts and the All Inclusive Collection have selected Jeffrey Beers International (JBI) to design the Hard Rock Riviera Mayain Mexico. JBI will transform the existing property, currently operating as Aventura Palace and located on the Yucatan Peninsula south of Cancun, into two distinct destinations - one catering to adults only and one for families. As Master Architect for the project, JBI's scope of work encompasses designing over 1,200 new guestrooms, multiple restaurants, a nightclub, a teen club, new wedding pavilion and updates to an existing convention center. Additionally, JBI is coordinating the efforts of four other design firms consulting on specific aspects of the resort. Aventura Palace will be re-branded as Hard Rock Riviera Maya in 2013.

"Jeffrey Beers' reputation as a leader in innovative hotel design made him a clear choice for the transformation of Aventura Palace into Hard Rock Riviera Maya," said Rafael Chapur, Chief Operating Officer for the All Inclusive Collection. "The architectural re-birth of the existing property, combined with the one-of-a-kind Hard Rock brand and our all inclusive offerings, will make Hard Rock Riviera Maya unlike any other property in the area."

"Our design blends the natural beauty of Mexico with the easy luxury and playfulness of the Hard Rock brand," commented designer Jeffrey Beers. "The design evokes a clear sense of place by using colors, materials and motifs traditional to this part of Mexico while also introducing new spaces that will resonate with Hard Rock fans, including the new nightclub, theater and enhanced pool and beach experience."

Beers' design team was inspired by the Festival de Avåndaro, a Woodstock-like music festival that took place in 1971 on Mexico's Lake Avåndaro and drew over 200,000 attendees. The Mexican government suppressed rock music in the aftermath of the chaotic one-day concert, leading to the creation of illicit "cafe cantante" venues akin to American speakeasies. The new dinner theater in the adult hotel is an homage to this rebellious spirit of Mexican rock n' roll.

JBI is enhancing the beach and pool area for guests by creating a collection of new cabanas, a cool palapa-roof restaurant and a new wedding pavilion.

Continuing its theme of bringing natural beauty inside the resort, JBI's guestroom design incorporates stone feature walls and wood ceiling beams. Each property has a distinctive color palette: lunar blues, purples and silvers for the adults only section and sunny reds, oranges and yellows for the family section.

A new freestanding teen club will be constructed as part of a second phase, as will a full renovation to the existing convention center.

Founded in 1986, New York-based Jeffrey Beers International (JBI) strives to create the ultimate memorable experience for guests. From hotels and residences to restaurants and innovative entertainment venues, JBI translates the client's vision into inviting spaces for relaxing, socializing and celebrating. JBI stands apart in the industry for its track record of creating alluring spaces that are also successful businesses.

Once complete, Hard Rock Riviera Maya will join Hard Rock Hotel Cancun and Hard Rock Hotel Vallara as Mexico's first Hard Rock Hotels. These properties, in addition to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, are the only all inclusive Hard Rock Hotels in the world. The four properties are owned and operated by RCD Resorts under licensing agreements from Hard Rock International. RCD Resorts, a leader in luxury, all inclusive hotel development and operation, exclusively contracts the All Inclusive Collection for the sales and marketing of it sall inclusive Hard Rock Hotels.
