Great Hotels of the World's member properties win TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence
Great Hotels of the World is delighted to announce that its member properties, Argos in Cappadocia in Turkey, Hillside Beach Club in Turkey, Hotel Ranga in Iceland, Quay Hotel and Spa in Wales, Royal Wing Suites and Spa in Thailand, The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa in India and Vale d'Oliveiras Quinta Resort and Spa in Portugal have all received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award, which honours hospitality excellence. The award is only issued to establishments that consistently receive exceptional traveller reviews on TripAdvisor. Approximately ten percent of accommodations listed on TripAdvisor receive this prestigious certificate. To qualify for the Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travellers on TripAdvisor. Additional criteria includes the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

Hotel Quinta da Marinha awarded Eco Hotel Certification
Hotel Quinta da Marinha in Portugal, member of Great Hotels of the World's Luxury Collection, has just been certified as an Eco-Hotel by TÜV Rheinland Portugal, an agency specialised in the provision of inspection and certification in recognition of good environmental practices. To acquire the certification, the resort had to effectively meet certain criteria with regard to energy management, water consumption, waste management, safety, licensing and environmental compliance. The property has also implemented full training across the team and an internal team has been created, who are responsible for measuring, monitoring, planning and implementing actions that improve environmental performance and decrease the negative impacts of the hotel on the environment.

Charterhouse Causeway Bay receives Manpower Development Award (MD)
Great Hotels of the World member, Charterhouse Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, has been honoured with the Manpower Development Award by the Employees Retraining Board. The ERB Manpower Developer award scheme was introduced in 2009 to stress the value of staff training and their development. Continental Hotel Zara wins the FIABCI Prix D'Exellence Hotel Category Award
Great Hotels of the World member, Continental Hotel Zara, has been awarded with the most prestigious international real estate development award by the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) in the hotel category. THE FIABCI organises the International Real Estate Development Award for Excellence competition (Prix d'Excellence) every year with the objective of selecting and rewarding the most successful ideas in real estate development. An international panel of top real estate professionals and experts judge on aspects such as the concept and the impact of the real estate development, its architectural and urban design standard, the quality of the construction, its sales and rental potentials and social benefits of the real estate development. Palace Hotel receives Dutch Hotel Award 2012
Great Hotels of the World is pleased to announce that its member, Palace Hotel, has been awarded the Dutch Hotel Award 2012. The award recognises the most innovative hotel management team within the Netherlands. During the application process, the hotel's corporate social responsibility, its Green Certificate and its interaction between companies and suppliers were assessed in detail. In the semi final, the Palace Hotel presented a video to the jury and showcased its property during a two-hour visit, whereby the jury held interviews with guests, partners, suppliers and representatives of the hotel. It was this visit that convinced the judging panel that the Palace Hotel was worthy of the award. In addition, a further defining factor for selecting Palace Hotel was the staff's team spirit throughout the entire competition process.
