WINNIPEG, Canada - May 2, 2012 - Hampton Hotels, the global brand of more than 1,900 mid-priced Hampton Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites and Hampton by Hilton Hotels, today announced the groundbreaking of the 135-room Hampton Inn Winnipeg Airport. Construction is expected to be completed by early 2013. The property is owned and operated by Sargent Berry Hospitality Inc. "The Hampton product is ideally suited for business and leisure travelers to the Winnipeg area,” said Nizar Mawani, Vice-President of Sargent Berry Hospitality Inc. “With free amenities like our on the house hot breakfast and high-speed Internet access, state-of-the-art exercise facility and whirlpool, the Hampton Inn provides all the services and amenities required by today's travelers." Located at 730 Berry Street West, the six-storey hotel is minutes from the airport and Polo Park Shopping Centre. Hotel amenities include a salt water pool and meeting space. Guestrooms are equipped with flat panel HDTVs, a fridge and microwave. Hampton hotels pride themselves on being the guests' "friend in town." Hotel websites emphasize local flavor providing unique content on such topics of interest as area attractions, historical facts and fun things to see and do around town. (www.hampton.com)

Additionally, hotels are infused with local photography and art work, highlighting each property's area connections. “We are excited about the opportunity to be a participant in the multi-dimensional Manitoba growth story and look forward to being an active member of the development community in Manitoba,” said Anupam Kothari, President of Sargent Berry Hospitality Inc. Anupam Kothari's connection to Winnipeg goes back in 1984 when he first settled in Canada, before moving to Ontario. Now that Winnipeg has other developments underway like IKEA and The Canadian Museum for Human Rights among others, Mawani and Kothari have every reason to make Winnipeg the place for their latest hotel development. Chantal Sturk-Nadeau, Senior Vice-President of Tourism Winnipeg said the addition of Hampton Inn by Hilton will positively impact the industry, attracting local and international tourists alike.

“Hampton Hotels' entry into the Winnipeg market is a welcome addition to our local hotel inventory and provides more choice for business and leisure travelers alike. Internationally recognized brands such as these positively impact our ability to attract tourism and elevate perceptions of the city as an international destination.”
