Grand Hyatt New York Names VP and Managing Director
NEW YORK, NY, February 9, 2007. Matt Adams has recently been named vice president and managing director for the Grand Hyatt New York. In this role, he will oversee operations, sales, engineering and food and beverage for the 1,311-room midtown Manhattan hotel. Adams replaces former Grand Hyatt New York general manager, Jerry Gibson, who is now the vice president and managing director at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
A 24-year Hyatt veteran, Adams was most recently vice president of operations for Hyatt Hotels Corporation in Chicago. In this role, he was responsible for all food and beverage, rooms and engineering operations for hotels and resorts in U.S., Canada and Caribbean. During his tenure in the corporate office, Adams pioneered many successful initiatives, including Hyatt's Stay Fit gyms, signature breakfast and lunch dishes and technology advancements including express check-in kiosks and E-Concierge program.
Prior his role in Hyatt's corporate office, he was vice president and managing director at Hyatt Regency San Francisco. Matt began his career in 1983 and has worked in various capacities at Hyatt hotels including the former Hyatt Los Angeles Airport, Hyatt Regency Long Beach, Grand Hyatt San Francisco and was general manager at both Hyatt Regency Woodfield and Hyatt Regency Chicago.
Playing an active role in the industry, Matt has been involved in Roosevelt University's adjunct faculty hospitality program. He holds a bachelor of arts from California State University, Long Beach.
