Courtyard Marriott Hotel Fitchburg, MA to Become Holiday Inn Hotel

Fitchburg, MA Courtyard Marriott Under New Management

. February 13, 2012

Fitchburg, MA - February 10, 2012 - Hotel Managers Group has assumed management of this 236 room, 10 suite, subject property and connected attraction effective 2/1/12. Effective immediately, Skip Drinkard will assume the responsibilities as the new General Manager. HMG's mission is to oversee the conversion from the current Marriott to a new Holiday Inn Hotel. The conversion is expected to take approximately 3 months to complete. Marriott and the new ownership have requested that Hotel Managers Group be the management company to effect the transition. After the conversion task is completed and Hotel Managers Group has trained the new manager and his staff in IHG standards, we will return the hotel to ownership. Ownership will then engage the services of an asset management company that will be responsible for overseeing the property and reporting back to the property owner.

The Courtyard Marriott is located in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Fitchburg is situated in the north-central part of the state. It is about a 1 hour drive northwest of Boston. Fitchburg is a small New England city that has a lot to offer both residents and visitors alike. It boasts the largest Expo Center in the state outside of Boston. Located close to the Highway 128 Technology Corridor, the Expo Center sees its fair share of trade shows and business gatherings. There are also many other public events scheduled throughout the year. In addition to the Expo Center, casual tourists come to the area to enjoy skiing at the nearby Wachusett Mountain Ski Resort in the winter and to play golf at some of the area's championship courses.

Adjoining the Marriott is the CoCo Key Water Resort. The Resort features waterslides, a river ride, activity pool and video game arcade among other attractions. Guests staying at the Marriott can purchase special packages that entitle them to discounted admission rates to the park.

Hotel Managers Group is tasked with re-branding this property so that it reflects the concepts and themes of a Holiday Inn. Since the property was well maintained by Marriott, there is no need for major construction or huge changes. There will be some new decor in the rooms and some attention paid to adding new technology for the comfort and enjoyment of the guests. Hotel Managers Group will do a complete evaluation of the property while working with Holiday Inn and the new ownership. Their responsibilities will include making any capital improvements, training the staff, marketing the new property and seeing that the new Holiday Inn is ready for business on the day of its grand opening.
