R. D. Olson Construction Completes Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Oceanside
December 2, 2011 - Three weeks ahead of schedule, R.D. Olson Construction completed the Courtyard by Marriott in Oceanside so the hotel could open for the holiday season. The new hotel is located at 3501 Seagate Way. Marriott International will manage the hotel.
The Oceanside hotel is the newest prototype design of the Courtyard by Marriott--the company's largest brand by room count. It is the first of its kind to open in San Diego County, showcasing a variety of new amenities and upgrades that cater to business travelers' needs, yet provides comfort to business and leisure travelers alike.
The 79,000-square-foot four-story Courtyard by Marriott features 142 guest rooms and suites. As a welcomed bonus for the city's growing business community, it offers 2,000-square feet of meeting space. The guest rooms and suites accommodate people who travel frequently for business and want to optimize their productivity, yet also enjoy personal time. Each guest room has Internet access, a large flat-screen television, microwave oven and efficient workspace for conducting business.
The Courtyard by Marriott lobby fuses high-tech, high-style and greater functionality. With added sophistication, the new lobby design replaces the typical front desk with individual welcome pedestals to alleviate any barrier between guests and staff. An innovative and interactive GoBoardTM displays news, weather, traffic, local restaurants and documents, while semi-enclosed media pods featuring individually controlled flat-panel televisions offer a place to work, meet or relax. The new restaurant, The Bistro, gives guests a choice in service styles from grab-'n-go options to full-service sit-down dining. Extending from the lobby is an outdoor terrace where a welcoming fire pit lends itself to social gatherings and conversation. The hotel also includes a fitness room, large outdoor pool and spa.
Adding to its appeal, the hotel is strategically located in within the Ocean Ranch development in the City of Oceanside, home to many fortune 500 companies. The hotel is wisely located for attracting visitors in route to such popular nearby attractions as the San Luis Rey Mission, Legoland, SeaWorld, San Diego Wild Animal Park and, naturally, Oceanside's pristine beaches.
This is the second hotel Irvine-based R.D. Olson Construction has built in Oceanside--the first being the Residence Inn by Marriott, which was completed in 2007.
“We enjoy working with Marriott as it is one of the most progressive and respected hoteliers in the world,” said Robert Olson, CEO, R.D. Olson Construction.
Johnson Braund Design Group of Seattle, Wash., a company R.D. Olson Construction has often worked with in renovating and building new hotels throughout California, provided the architectural and interior design services.
R.D. Olson Construction, based in Irvine, Calif., was founded in 1979. It has grown into one of the top 50 general contracting firms in California, building such establishments as the 174-room Renaissance ClubSport in Aliso Viejo; AVIA Hotel Long Beach; Marriott Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach; Ojai Valley Inn & Spa Resort, Ojai; and four Marriott Residence Inns in Long Beach, Burbank, Oceanside and Irvine.
