Connected Traveler Creates Free News Service and Marketplace

'Connects' Travel Suppliers with Customers

. October 14, 2008

FEBRUARY 1, 2007. Connected Traveler (connectedtraveler.com) is introducing a free online news service where hotels, resorts, spas, destinations, cruise lines and attractions can post their news releases, announcements, pictures and video links.

In addition, Connected Traveler is offering an open marketplace where users can create and post free classified advertising and a MySpace-like section that allows providers and customers to interact directly with each other.

Connected Traveler guides users through the posting process to ensure that their product information is useful and easy to find not only by the site's worldwide audience of educated travel consumers but beyond, by people searching the Web. Each user-contributed story receives its own search engine-friendly page and is distributed through RSS feeds and tags for social networking sites such as Digg and de.licio.us.

'Our free service encourages companies, regardless of size, to promote niche travel products and makes it easy for customers to discover them,' says Russell Johnson, editor and publisher of Connected Traveler. 'We also have also created special sections for sustainable and volunteer tourism.'

Connected Traveler (connectedtraveler.com), published by Travelmedia Communications, debuted in 1995 and quickly became one of the top sites on the Web, garnering numerous awards and 'Best-ofs'. It pioneered in streaming video and audio, high definition TV downloads and podcasting and recently debuted the world's first 24x7 world travel and music internet radio station. Lonely Planet calls it 'Armchair travel at its best.'
