Courtyard by Marriott to Open in Fort Wayne
Downtown Property Scheduled to Open September 2010
May 27, 2010 - Located in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, the Courtyard by Marriott Fort Wayne Downtown gives business and leisure travelers the opportunity to host meetings and special events in a new, state-of-the-art hotel located within Fort Wayne's central business district.
With over 250 guest rooms and suites, 6,500 square feet of meeting rooms/banquet facilities, two on-site restaurants, a fitness center/indoor pool, an outdoor venue for special events, and much more, the new Courtyard by Marriott Fort Wayne Downtown is part of a $120 million development of downtown Fort Wayne's' revitalization project.
Key to the new hotel is its prime, central location and its skybridge connection to local partners, Grand Wayne Convention Center and Embassy Theatre. With over 100,000 square feet of meeting and pre-function space, the Grand Wayne Center is Fort Wayne's premier destination for large-scale conventions, expos, and trade shows. The Courtyard Marriott Fort Wayne Downtown is also near the new baseball stadium, home to Fort Wayne's minor league team, the Fort Wayne Tincaps. Other attractions in close proximity to the new hotel is the Embassy Theatre, a 1928 historic theatre representing over 40 performances each year in addition to housing touring companies, concert tours, dance, lectures, and community events. In addition, the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory is adjacent to the new hotel.
"We are very excited to be an integral part of the Fort Wayne downtown community," said Andy Crowel, General Manager of the new Courtyard by Marriott. "We are confident that our business services and space, as well as our banquet accommodations for weddings and other special events will be an incredible addition to Fort Wayne's current offerings."
Crowel added that the new Courtyard by Marriott features 6,500-square-feet of meeting space, including a ballroom that accommodates up to 400 guests. Guests will enjoy cutting-edge technology such as a 52" "Go Board" that guests can use to access local weather, driving directions, events, and news headlines; media pods, a home theatre environment, a Business Library, and two on-site restaurants -- Champions Sports Bar and Restaurant and Courtyard Bistro.
