Dolce Hotels and Resorts Opens New Conference Hotel in Munich
MONTVALE, NJ - May 19, 2010 - Dolce Hotels and Resorts, operator of 26 upscale hotels, resorts and conference hotels in North America and Europe, recently opened the Dolce Munich Unterschleissheim, a 255-room conference hotel near Munich, Germany, the company's sixth hotel in Europe and second in Germany.
The hotel is adjacent to the BallhausForum conference center, which Dolce manages for the City of Unterschleissheim. The company's other hotel in Germany is Dolce Bad Nauheim, near Frankfurt.
“At a time when many of our competitors have retrenched, we are expanding,” said Steven A. Rudnitsky, Dolce president and chief executive officer, speaking at the grand-opening ceremony April 30. “Despite the difficult economy, our value proposition has enabled us to develop a substantial pipeline for growth in Europe as well as in North America.”
The hotel was developed by Andreas Striebel of Striebel Projektmanagement GmbH, representing a consortium of investors, who worked closely with Dolce Hotels and Resorts to design the hotel from the ground up so as to fulfill the brand's standards and mission to “create inspiring environments that bring people together.”
Paul van Wijk, the hotel's managing director, said Dolce's slogan, “Meet with inspiration,” is reflected in the building's architectural details, which combine rural, regional elements with contemporary lifestyle as designed by Hamburg-based architectural firm Joi-Design. Working with the design team, Feuring Projektmanagement GmbH provided the furniture and equipment for the guest rooms, restaurants, lounges and spa.
Dolce Munich Unterschleissheim's 16 function rooms, certified by the International Association of Conference Centers, total 16,308 square feet of space, complementing the BallhausForum's six function rooms totaling 32,776 square feet of space. Together, the facilities offer 25 function rooms totaling 49,094 square feet.
The hotel includes a 3,509 square-foot divisible conference room, 2,734-square-foot ballroom, 2,680-square-foot conference room, a divisible 2,626-square foot conference room, two 861-square-foot meeting rooms, two 44-square foot meeting rooms, five 248-square foot breakout rooms and the 915-square-foot Zugspitze Sky Lounge.
Guest rooms feature premium bedding, oversize baths, flat-screen LCD TVs, work desks, iPod docks, a safe for valuables and complimentary wireless Internet access, available property-wide. Three presidential suites are available on the executive-level seventh floor along with 12 junior suites and 15 connecting deluxe rooms. Ten additional junior suites are available on other floors.
The hotel's Dolce Vital Spa by Cinq Mondes includes four private treatment rooms and products of the award-winning French Cinq Mondes spa brand of Paris. Massages incorporate the traditions and ceremonies of India, Siam, Maghreb, Japan, and China. The hotel also offers an indoor pool, fitness center, two saunas and hamam (Turkish variant of a steam bath).
Food and beverage facilities include Viktualien, a 220-seat restaurant; Redox, a 40-seat à la carte restaurant; Stephan's Bar, a lobby-level lounge with 70 seats; and Terrace and Biergarten, the hotel's outdoor beer garden adjacent to the bar.
Executive Chef Jens Koppermann created signature menu items for the hotel, which he said “creatively interpret Bavarian basics with a modern twist.” Examples include espresso of Bavarian mushroom with coconut shrimp, cuts of braised honey pork belly with saffron-pumpkin puree and Bavarian apple-cinnamon sauce.
The Dolce Munich Unterschleissheim and BallhausForum are located between Munich International Airport and Munich city center, directly accessible by car and rail. More than 750 parking spaces are available at the hotel on a complimentary basis for hotel guests.
