Rockville, MD - (May 17, 2010) - HVScompass Design and Jonathan Nehmer + Associates, Inc. (JN+A) are proud to announce the completion of the first phase of the guestroom and suite renovation at the historic Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Interior Design and Architecture services were provided by HVScompass and JN+A respectively.

The Willard InterContinental Hotel is a luxury, landmark hotel in Washington, D.C. Located one block from the White House, The Willard has hosted presidents and dignitaries since 1850. HVScompass and JN+A completed the redesign of the hotel's 335 guestrooms and 40 suites using historically-accurate materials and furniture while incorporating today's modern amenities. The team also needed to make sure the new guestroom design blended seamlessly with the style of the other historic areas of the hotel.

The design of the Willard Hotel features a combination of the American Federal and Empire style designs of the early 19th century, which was patterned after the French Empire, with classical influences. The guestroom design maintains the style and elegance of the hotel and incorporates a bright, contemporary feel for the 21st century guest.

Each of the hotel's suites, such as the Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Lincoln, and Oval suites, offers the guest a unique experience, each featuring a different color palette and furniture. The John Adams Suite was inspired by the tranquil gardens located on Capitol Hill. The Thomas Jefferson Suite, Presidential in size was designed to make the guest feel like royalty and features an expanded dressing area, gown closet, and dressing table.

The Willard InterContinental is managed by InterContinental Hotels Group since 1986. The hotel is owned by Willard Associates, whose managing general partners are the Oliver Carr Company.
