NEW YORK, NY, January 10, 2007. Chefs from four Benchmark Hospitality International properties were invited to prepare a five course holiday dinner at the prestigious James Beard House in Manhattan on Thursday, December 28, 2006. The James Beard House is the original townhouse residence of the storied Chef and Dean of American Cookery, James Beard.

The Benchmark culinary team included Dale Hawkins, executive chef at Stonewall Resort of Roanoke, West Virginia; Todd Wolfson, executive chef at Glen Cove Mansion in Glen Cove, New York; Jason Lage, executive chef at Lansdowne Resort, near Leesburg, Virginia; and Jennifer Chambers, executive pastry chef at North Maple Inn of Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Mary Watson, Benchmark's award-winning sommelier, based at Lansdowne Resort, paired each course with superb American wines.

The five course tasting menu, which composed the "Benchmark Holiday Dinner," was served to nearly 90 guests at the Beard House. Guests included members of the James Beard Foundation, executives from New York-area corporations, members of the press, and Benchmark Hospitality's invited guests.

The James Beard Foundation (www.jamesbeard.org), based in New York City, is the definitive culinary arts organization in the United States dedicated to showcasing American chefs' talents. It is named after the great American chef, Dean of American Cooking, and Father of American Gastronomy, James Beard. The Foundation and The James Beard House, where chefs from around the world showcase their talents, are situated in Manhattan in Beard's original townhouse home, located in Greenwich Village.
