Jim Burns Promoted to VP and Managing Director Grande Lakes Orlando
DECEMBER 11, 2009 - Jim Burns, General Manager of the 1,000-room JW Marriott Orlando has been promoted to Vice President and Managing Director of the 500-acre Grande Lakes Orlando, a luxury estate that includes the JW Marriott as well as a 584-room Ritz-Carlton, a 40,000-square-foot Ritz-Carlton Spa, and an 18-hole championship golf course designed by two-time British Open winner and PGA Tour icon Greg Norman.
As Vice President and Managing Director of Grande Lakes Orlando, Mr. Burns, A 29-year veteran of Marriott International, will continue in his role as the General Manager of the JW Marriott Orlando. He will also oversee all aspects of the operations of Grande Lakes Orlando.
Prior to his position at the JW Marriott Orlando, Mr. Burns was Area General Manager of the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, where he was responsible for the development and execution of all aspects of the Marriott brand and business strategies in the Los Angeles market. He also served as General Manager of the Coronado Island Marriott Resort in San Diego and as Resident Manager of the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina. Mr. Burns held numerous positions at Marriott International in Washington DC, including Vice President of Brand Operations, Vice President of Service Development and Vice President of Total Quality Management. He has also worked in Human Resources and Food & Beverage for Marriott International.

The winner of numerous awards for his dynamic leadership and Food & Beverage expertise, Mr. Burns holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education from Temple University in Philadelphia.
