Southern Ocean Lodge Names Robyn Bautovich as General Manager
Baillie Lodges award-winning flagship property Southern Ocean Lodge has named esteemed tourism industry leader Robyn Bautovich as General Manager. Robyn is already heading up the family-like team at the remote 25-suite luxury lodge on Kangaroo Island's wildly beautiful south coast.
Robyn joins the growing Baillie Lodges portfolio of lodges as part of a more than twenty-year career in hospitality, which has included resort General Manager roles in some of the world's most sought-after tourism destinations and some excellent travel adventures along the way. Robyn brings to the role extensive experience in luxury resorts in Southeast Asia and Australia's tropical north, including some 13 years with the Mantra group at Peppers Beach Club & Spa at Palm Cove, Port Douglas and Palm Bay in Queensland, Peppers Seminyak in Indonesia, and Peppers Craigieburn in New South Wales. Robyn also enjoyed six years exploring Vietnam while leading the teams at the Life Resorts group of wellness retreats. Robyn's career in hospitality and tourism is fuelled by a love of travel and of working with people. For Robyn, the opportunity to take the helm at Southern Ocean Lodge was a dream job opportunity.
"Travel has always been a big part of my life. You learn so much from traveling, gaining experiences of different cultures, of a wonderful range of cuisines, and of working with different people and being part of an onsite family; it's these experiences that really build you as a person," Ms Bautovich said. "I've been used to living and working in the tropics, so the cooler climate on Kangaroo Island is a learning experience too!"
"Greetings guests as they arrive at Southern Ocean Lodge and walking with them towards the rusted steel doors - then watching their faces and reaction as the doors open to reveal the view of the Great Room and blue Southern Ocean is a source of absolute joy for me; I think I'll never grow tired of it," she shared.
Baillie Lodges Chief Operating Officer Craig Bradbery said the team at Southern Ocean Lodge was delighted to welcome Robyn to the leadership role. "With her love of travel and long career in luxury resorts and tourism, Robyn has slotted in effortlessly with the Baillie Lodges family," Mr Bradbery said.
