Hersha Names Sylvia Headen Douglin Director of Learning and Development

Douglin will lead all training and development programs for HHM's corporate offices and properties

PHILADELPHIA, PA, August 9, 2006. Hersha Hospitality Management (HHM), a hotel management company of nationally franchised, midscale and upscale hotels in the eastern United States, announced today that Sylvia Headen Douglin has been appointed Director of Learning and Development. Douglin will lead all training and development programs for HHM's corporate offices and properties.

Douglin spent the past three years serving as director of training for Interstate Hotels & Resorts, a hotel management firm based in Arlington, VA, where she provided training and leadership development to the executive staff at the corporate headquarters, as well as to trainers in the field who supported 300 properties.

"Sylvia brings to HHM twenty years of training and development expertise, and has worked with leading hotel brands such as Hilton, Marriott and Starwood," said Jeff Wade, HHM vice president of human resources. "Her experience and leadership in these areas will reinforce HHM's tradition of mentoring, training and learning."

Douglin previously served as a senior consultant for the Ivy Planning Group in Rockville, MD, where she directed training programs on diversity and corporate communications for government and private sector clients including the U.S. Secret Service, Internal Revenue Service, MeriStar Hotels & Resorts, JPMorgan Chase, National Council of Churches and AT&T.

Douglin is a member of the American Society of Training & Development and is certified as an evaluator for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator.
