Marriott Re-flags OakBrook Hills Resort
OAK BROOK, IL, August 2, 2005. Marriott International, Inc. announced today that the Oak Brook Hills Resort, in Oak Brook, Ill., has been re-flagged as the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort. Located at 3500 Midwest Road, the upscale 384 room property is Marriott's second resort in Illinois. It will operate as a Marriott-managed hotel owned by DiamondRock Hospitality Company. Marriott Golf, the golf management organization of Marriott International and the world's largest golf resort management company, will also assume management of the golf facilities. "We're very excited to be part of the Marriott family of hotels, and we look forward to welcoming our past guests and introducing new visitors to this wonderful resort," said Dan Gustafson, general manager, Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort.
Beginning in 2006, the resort will undergo a comprehensive renovation program that will include a complete makeover of the meeting space, two restaurants and the Lobby Bar. In addition, guest rooms will be completely updated and will feature Marriott's new, more luxurious bedding with plusher mattresses, softer sheets and more pillows. Replacing the traditional hotel bedspread is a down comforter nestled inside sheeted duvets, which will be freshly laundered for each new guest. The bedding will feature 300-thread- count, cotton-rich, white top and fitted bottom sheets, which are among the finest and softest sheets of any global hotel chain. The stylized bedding is accented with euroshams, a decorative bed scarf and a bolster.
The 18-hole championship Willow Crest Golf Club is one of the most distinctive features of the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort. Designed by Dick Nugent, the course features contoured fairways, well-bunkered greens and an abundant amount of water. Wooden bridges and mature willows add to the course's unique character. Recognized as one of the finest golf courses in the Midwest, the 6,397-yard layout with its multi-tiered tees is challenging for skilled players, yet enjoyable for casual golfers.
Ideally situated in Oak Brook, an affluent suburb southwest of Chicago, the resort provides convenient access to the fashionable outdoor OakBrook Center, featuring a myriad of high-end clothing stores and restaurants. Other area attractions include the Brookfield Zoo, Morton Arboretum, Oak Brook Polo Club and downtown Chicago. Chicago O'Hare International and Midway Airport are both approximately 25 minutes away.
Ideal for business and social occasions, the Oak Brook Hills Marriott Resort offers a total of 40,000 square feet of event space, including 31 flexible meeting rooms, the 13,432-square-foot Grand Ballroom and a tiered amphitheater that seats 145 people. Technological capabilities include high- speed internet access in all meeting rooms and comprehensive audiovisual facilities. A 24-hour business center is also available to meet guests' needs.
The hotel's signature restaurant, Windows, offers panoramic views of the golf course and serves contemporary American cuisine, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The casual pub, The Grille Room, is just steps away from the 18th hole and offers a light fare menu. Room service is also available.
Other resort features include a pro shop, outdoor pool with hydrotherapy hot tub, indoor pool with lap lanes, outdoor tennis courts, fitness center, men's and women's lockers rooms with dry sauna, and nearby outdoor jogging trails.
