JACKSON, NH, November 2, 2006. With a another Columbus holiday and fall foliage in the distant White Mountains of northern New Hampshire now history, the Eagle Mountain House has independently taken on the challenge to further promote tourism in Jackson and the Mt. Washington Valley during the remainder of the year.

Hotel general manager Jerry Jacobson, in a presentation made to his hotel owners association last weekend commented, "Every effort is being made to sell our destination to travelers who would not normally think of visiting our area at this time of the year. We are actively promoting travel using various media outlets which includes direct mail, both regional radio and television, web sites, as well as through national editorial magazine coverage. The hotel has introduced a special discounted "Fall Away From the Mall" shopping promotion in an effort to attract early holiday shoppers because of this area's vast array of tax-free boutiques, shops, and outlet stores."

The Eagle Mountain House's effort includes a partnership with the National Historic Trust and the hotel has sent 10,000 direct mail pieces throughout New England to promote the area's shopping opportunities. Jacobson shared with his hotel owners information about member demographics of the National Historic Trust, how committed their members are to visiting historic hotels, and why this marketing partnership was a natural tie-in for the Eagle Mountain House and other historic hotels in our area.

The Eagle Mountain House's special off season "Fall Away from the Mall" promotion offers midweek hotel accommodation, discount dinner, free breakfast, tote bag with gift items, complimentary use of gift wrapping supplies and other shopping perks at special rates from $49 per night, per person based on double occupancy.

The shopping promotion has been partnered with WHOM radio who transmits their signal from atop of Mt. Washington and reaches virtually the entire New England area and well into parts of Canada. The Eagle Mountain House has coupled with WHOM by offering complimentary hotel stays to the station's various contest winners over the next several weeks. This radio exposure brings to light the diverse hotel and shopping opportunities available here in the Mt. Washington Valley.

Utilizing regional television promotional opportunities, Eagle Mountain House scheduled its head chef, Stan Shafer, to appear as guest chef on Channel 9's, WMUR-TV, Cook's Corner, a feature that profiles New Hampshire restaurants and inns.

"The poached sea bass entr'ee being presented by Chef Shafer is "Heart Healthy" and incorporates the special relationship the Eagle Mountain House has developed with American Heart Association and the annual "Hearts of Jackson Inn Tour", an upcoming February benefit for the Heart Association and is co-sponsored with the Jackson Ski Touring Foundation," noted hotel general manager Jacobson.

As the result of another collaborative media effort, but on a national level, the Eagle Mountain House and Jackson, NH received editorial coverage in the current November issue of Cooking Light Magazine, the largest circulation epicurean magazine in the United States. This issue features an article on "Pristine Winter Getaways" which includes information on winter destinations throughout the United States, including the Mt. Washington Valley.

"We are delighted that Cooking Light Magazine will bring our destination to the attention of their eleven million subscribers and website viewers; and how our winter can fit into their readers' lifestyle and approach to fitness and travel", Jacobson noted in his recent presentation to his hotel owner association. He also noted that the time it takes to bring a story idea, such as this, to print can take as much as six to ten months.

The general manager went on to tell the owners association this broad-based marketing effort for off season fall travel will plant the seed for the upcoming winter travel, as well. The Eagle Mountain House continues to explore additional editorial opportunities to further sell this destination to future and repeat visitors.
