. October 14, 2008

WASHINGTON, DC, September 10, 2008. The Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) reinforces its presence in Washington, D.C. on September 10, 2008. The hospitality industry leader and largest Indian American business association in the U.S. will host its Second Annual Capitol Hill Reception and Dinner.

"AAHOA's first annual Capitol Hill Reception in 2007 was a resounding success," said AAHOA Chairman Ashwin "Ash" Patel. "This year promises to build on the strong pace that has been set, further reinforcing our identity as a political force that is powerful, relevant, and present in our nation's Capitol."

The Reception and Dinner will be held at the Senate Russell Office Building in Room 325, and hosted by AAHOA Chairman Ashwin "Ash" Patel, and AAHOA Government Affairs Team Chair Paul Patel. The event will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

The keynote speakers are Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Evan Feigenbaum; and President of the US-India Business Council, Ron Somers. The evening will include addresses from Rep. Edward Randall Royce (R-CA), Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), and Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC). Other Members of Congress are also expected to speak or be present. The event will provide a forum for the elected representatives to address their constituents directly. AAHOA leaders, members, and colleagues, including members of coalition organizations, who will be in attendance, also have the opportunity to respond to the Congresspersons.

"With many notable politicians and guests, as well as AAHOA and industry leaders expected to attend, it is no wonder that this is our showcase event on Capitol Hill," said President Fred Schwartz. "I am confident that our high expectations will be met, and I know that AAHOA will continue to strengthen our political presence in D.C. as we move forward towards our 2009 Annual Convention, to be held in the D.C. area."

AAHOA will continue hosting events promoting not only advocacy, but also member leadership and professional development. This will be further evident during AAHOA's preeminent 2009 Annual Convention and Trade Show, which will commemorate its 20-year anniversary. The event will be held from April 22-25, 2009.
