Hilton Makes $3mil Commitment to Annual Scholarship Fund
Unveils $200,000 Donation at Hilton Baltimore Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
AUGUST 29, 2008. Hilton Hotels Corporation ('Hilton'), presented to CollegeBound Foundation the first installment of a $3 million 15 year commitment towards the Hilton Baltimore Convention Center Hotel Scholarship Fund at the Hilton Baltimore's official opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. The $200,000 check was presented to launch the program increasing educational opportunities for students in Baltimore to pursue a career in the hospitality industry.
'Hilton is pleased to play an integral role in increasing educational opportunities for the young people of Baltimore City, and especially Baltimore City public high school graduates who intend to enroll or are enrolled in a college hotel, hospitality, and/or restaurant management program,' said Ted Ratcliff, Senior Vice President - Americas Operations - Eastern US, Canada, Caribbean & Central America. 'This aligns with Hilton's Diversity commitment which encompasses the support and advancement of minority youth.'
As the scholarship fund administrator, CollegeBound will award scholarships to qualified and eligible students in Baltimore City public high schools with the first priority to the National Academy Foundation. These students intend to enroll in hotel, hospitality, and/or restaurant programs at two or four year colleges. The National Academy Foundation High School is a Baltimore City public high school located on the Federal Hill campus of Digital Harbor High School. NAF Baltimore is a high school which integrates three academies to form one high school: Information Technology, Finance, and Hospitality & Tourism.
