SANTA ANA PUEBLO, NM, September 28, 2006. Guests of the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa (www.tamaya.hyatt.com) enter a special place of calm and rejuvenation within this New Mexico spa resort and now the world has taken notice. The Tamaya Mist Spa and Salon at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya, located on the Native American Santa Ana Pueblo reservation between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM, was ranked eighth in a list of the "Top 25 Hotel Spas in the Continental U.S. and Canada." The 2006 World's Best Spas list was part of Travel + Leisure's 11th annual World's Best Awards readers' poll.
Results of the survey, where the magazine's well-traveled readers rate their favorite destination and hotel spas worldwide, are in the October 2006 issue, currently on newsstands. Respondents were required to rate hotel spas on four characteristics: ambience, treatments, service and value. For full survey methodology, visit www.travelandleisure.com/worldsbest.
"We're thrilled and honored travelers have discovered a piece of heaven at our resort and taken the time to share their experience with others, especially Travel + Leisure," says Robert Ortiz, Chairman of the Santa Ana Hospitality Corporation from the Pueblo, which owns the resort. "The experience at Tamaya is truly one-of-a-kind. The combination of our enchanted New Mexico setting, our Santa Ana Pueblo hospitality and the pampering of our spa therapists, leaves guests with a unique feeling of serenity and rejuvenation."
The 16,000-square-foot Tamaya Mist is a full-service spa, salon and fitness center. Featuring 12 private treatment rooms, the spa recently introduced new Native American-inspired signature treatments and "Journey Packages" which last a minimum of four hours and include a series of treatments incorporating indigenous ingredients and Indian traditions.
"It is an incredible honor to be listed among the top spas in the world," says Hyatt Regency Tamaya General Manager Jerry Westenhaver. "We encourage all guests to spend at least some time in Tamaya Mist, as it is a truly special place to be pampered."
