Renovations Near Completion for The Hyatt Regency Greenwich in Connecticut

USA, Old Greenwich, Connecticut. October 23, 2024

Hyatt Regency Greenwich and Trinity Investments are proud to announce a nearly $40 million renovation, adding a modern touch to the historic campus while incorporating nods to the destination and the site's past. The top-to-bottom transformation encompasses updates to the pool and fitness center, a new atrium event space, the introduction of Glenna's Cafe and Market alongside Townsend Bar, and a complete remodel of all 374 guest rooms and suites.

Designed by Curioso Design Studio, the enhancements to Hyatt Regency Greenwich come as the hotel approaches its 40th anniversary in 2026. Paying homage to its location in the 1920s home of Condé Nast Publishing's printing operation, the hotel's designs will incorporate iconic photos and illustrations from issues of magazines that were once printed on site. With 1,100 individual pieces of art in the guest room corridors alone, and even more featured in the guest rooms, the hallways will be a treasure trove of visual history and artistic inspiration. With a color palette reminiscent of collegiate colors and the hues popular to the era, the revamped hotel will exude an exclusive, sophisticated ambiance. This design choice along with the vintage-inspired décor will acknowledge its coastal location along the Long Island Sound, creating an overall feel of a traditional property with modern flair.

The renovation of the 28,000-square-foot meeting and event space was revealed in 2020. In late 2023 the property upgraded its indoor pool, hot tub and 24-hour fitness center featuring new cardio and strength equipment along with new Peloton Bikes.

The next set of enhancements, expected to be finalized by the end of summer 2024, focus on the common spaces. The atrium-style lobby, well known in Greenwich and the surrounding areas for its greenery and unique greenhouse roof, will be entirely redesigned but will retain the familiar foliage. Approximately 2,300 individual plants will be housed in the space - 800 more than were there previously - and visitors can enjoy drinks and bites from Townsend, a new moonlit garden bar, in the lobby. The eatery will serve craft cocktails, bar bites and shareable plates from late afternoon into the night. In the center of the lobby, a fountain reminiscent of the original one on the grounds 100 years ago, will be installed as a further nod to the site's past. Opposite Townsend, the new Garden Court will provide a flexible space with soft communal seating that can also be booked for private events.

Just off the lobby will be The Library, an old-world, gentleman-style lounge where guests can unwind with a drink, play a game of billiards, browse through vintage Condé Nast publications, or choose a cigar from the extensive humidor. Also in the common area will be Glenna's Cafe and Market, a coffee shop with house-made breakfast and lunch and an assortment of grab-and-go options. Named after Connecticut resident and Hall of Fame golfer Glenna Collett-Vare, Glenna's will have a full-service cafe serving coffee drinks, sandwiches and more, and will also sell items from local businesses.

The final stage of the new developments will be the guest rooms. Each of Hyatt Regency Greenwich's 374 guest rooms and suites will be renovated and redecorated to allow guests to make the most of their stay. From the signature beds, elegantly framed by floral headboards, to open storage areas for convenient access, every aspect of the room has been designed with guest comfort in mind. Relaxing color schemes will create a true oasis, while modern amenities cater to the needs of today's traveler, including ample outlets and USB ports and a dedicated workstation.

"Hyatt Regency Greenwich is a remarkable hotel with a rich past and bright future, and we are excited to showcase this through our thoughtful redesigns throughout the property," said Sherry Hicks-Buckles, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Greenwich. "Our team has been working diligently on the renovations to ensure the rooms and common spaces are visually brilliant while maximizing the guest experience, making every stay seamless and infusing the spirit of Old Greenwich."

The term "Hyatt" is used in this release for convenience to refer to Hyatt Hotels Corporation and/or one or more of its affiliates.
