Gigi Vega Named General Manager at Boar’s Head Resort
Boar's Head Resort and the University of Virginia Foundation announced the appointment of Gigi Vega as general manager effective Aug. 14. Vega, who has amassed more than three decades of hospitality experience over her career that spans the globe, comes to Charlottesville from San Francisco, where she was the general manager of the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero. Russ Cronberg, who has served as general manager at Boar's Head for the last seven years, recently assumed the position of director of hospitality for the University of Virginia Foundation.
"We are excited to have Gigi join the resort and Charlottesville community. Her genuine passion and care for her team, while providing luxury experiences, will build on all that we have accomplished recently. Her experience, knowledge and leadership will drive the resort for years to come," said Cronberg.
Vega began her hospitality career in 1988 with the Five-Star luxury hotel group InterContinental Hotels, where she gained valuable industry experience through direct rapport with hotel guests. She then advanced through multiple roles at the renowned Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, where she spent nearly a decade perfecting her craft to achieve the title of assistant general manager of the Mandarin Oriental Macau. Parlaying her significant expertise, Vega held managerial roles at notable luxury hotel groups over the years, including Caesars Entertainment and Nobu Hotels. She was instrumental in executing the rebranding of one of Las Vegas's Caesars Towers into the Nobu Hotel. Then, when Nobu Hotels extended its brand into Europe with Nobu Hotel London Shoreditch, Vega became Nobu Hotels' first global general manager. Prior to joining Four Seasons Embarcadero, Vega was the general manager at The Wall Street Hotel New York City.
"I am looking forward to being part of the Boar's Head Resort family and the community it serves. I am honored to continue its successes and eager to bring forth its next great milestones."
Vega, a native of the Philippines, holds a Master's Degree in Hotel Administration from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). Vega and her husband, Phil, have three grown children: Marcos, Meredith and Maria.
