Kaanapali Beach Hotel Appoints Alex Pelayo as New Director of Restaurants
Kaanapali Beach Hotel is excited to announce the appointment of Alex Pelayo as Director of Restaurants. Pelayo brings over 10 years of experience in the food and beverage industry to the hotel's Hookipa (hospitality) team.
Prior to joining Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Pelayo recently served as the Director of Food & Beverage at Hotel Granduca in Austin, Texas. Other previous work experience includes managing day-to-day operations under the Davidson Hotels & Resorts portfolio, including The Marriott Chicago at Medical District UIC and The Hilton Garden Inn, San Francisco. Early in Pelayo's career, he worked as a banquet server for Wolfgang Puck Catering in Chicago where he gained valuable experience in a fast-paced, exciting environment. While in Chicago, Pelayo earned a Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Administration and Management from Kendall College.
“Alex's passion for food and beverage started as a young adult where he gained valuable work experience and a deep appreciation for the industry. He has risen through the ranks holding various positions, proving that no job is too small,” said Executive Chef Tom Muromoto. “With this experience, Alex is well positioned to join the KBH Ohana and share his passion for food and beverage.”
In his new role as Director of Restaurants, Pelayo will manage the hotel's wide range of dining options, including the signature Tiki Terrace restaurant, the poolside Tiki Bar & Grill, the award-winning Sunday Champagne Brunch, and the weekly Legends of Kaanapali Luau. Pelayo and Chef Muromoto will work alongside one another to continually refine the array of authentic cuisine.
“Food is a passion of mine and together with Kaanapali Beach Hotel's commitment to preserving Hawaiian culture through both food and programming, I look forward to enhancing a dining experience that is both authentic and unique,” said Pelayo.
