Emerson Resort & Spa Debuts Fresh Look After Extensive Renovations
Catskill Resort Brings the Outside In
MT. Tremper, N.Y. February 23, 2016 - After a multi-million dollar, 12-month renovation of guest accommodations, public areas and the launch of their new restaurant Woodnotes Grille, Emerson Resort & Spa is proud to debut a refreshed new look for 2016.
Designed by Roslyn Cama of Cama Inc., the Emerson's renovations were inspired by the resort's location in the Catskills, bringing the outside in with open spaces, large windows exposing stunning outdoor views and an earthy color palette of browns, blues, whites and greens. Emerson Resort & Spa's owner Emily H. Fisher worked closely with Cama to execute a refreshed look that is more reflective of the property's namesake, legendary poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, whose famous essay “Nature” was the incentive for the development of the Catskill Forest Preserve surrounding the Emerson grounds.
“We are very excited to debut Emerson Resort & Spa's new look,” said Fisher. “We welcome both travelers and locals to the Emerson. From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in the serene and beautiful surroundings of the Catskills.”
The renovations began with the resort's exterior. The various buildings which house the guestrooms, restaurant, lobby and shops have all been painted different colors in order to resemble a small village and differentiate each element of the resort. The Lobby, Great Room and other public areas of the Inn were given a brighter and more spacious layout with updated furnishings and hardwood floors. Inn rooms feature new furniture, light fixtures, oversize windows and a variety of original nature-themed artwork created by over a dozen local and regional artists. Several art pieces and sculptures in the Lobby, hallways and restaurant were commissioned specifically for the resort. Notable artists include Judy Pfaff, Alison Berry, Deborah Quinn-Munson, Elizabeth MacDonald and Robert Alan Hyde.
An additional highlight of the renovations is the launch of the Emerson's new restaurant, Woodnotes Grille. Offering “Catskill Creative Cooking,” Woodnotes Grille features traditional American dishes prepared with locally sourced foods and a menu that is influenced by guest requests. Adding fun to the Woodnotes experience are craft cocktails designed on-the-spot with the mention of a few of the guest's favorite ingredients.
“Emerson Resort & Spa is located in the heart of nature's playground and our new look truly brings the wilderness in,” said Chief Executive Officer Naomi Umhey. “We are currently renovating our award-winning spa and look forward to debuting the final product by spring 2016.”
