LIH&LA Donates $8,500 to the New York Institute of Technology
Scholarship Donation to Support Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Students
OLD WESTBURY, NY, September. 12, 2006. New York Institute of Technology's (NYIT) Culinary Arts Center has received an $8,500 scholarship donation from the Long Island Hotel & Lodging Association (LIH&LA). The contribution will support NYIT's culinary arts and hospitality management students living and working in Long Island's lodging, food and beverage industries.
Mike Johnston, president of LIH&LA and general manager of the Long Island Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, presented the scholarship check to James Dunne, NYIT assistant professor of culinary arts, and James Turley, NYIT associate professor of hospitality management, who accepted on behalf of the college. The generous donation was raised at LIH&LA's annual summer golf outing at St. George's Country Club in Stony Brook.
NYIT's award-winning Culinary Arts Center is designed to provide students who are interested in becoming professional chefs and hospitality specialists with unique, real-world culinary experiences. It is managed by Executive Chef and NYIT Director of Culinary Arts Gunter Grossmann and is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Education Institute. The Culinary Arts Center is located on NYIT's Central Islip, N.Y., campus.
