Renovations Complete for the Historic 132-room Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown, New York

. June 19, 2014

Cooperstown, NY - June 19, 2014 - The Otesaga Resort Hotel, a historic resort located on the shores of Lake Otsego in Cooperstown, NY, celebrates its 105th season with renovations to its lobby and 132 guestrooms.

"We made multiple changes at The Otesaga this winter, including a large refresh to the classic elegance of our guestrooms and lobby," said Jim Miles, General Manager/COO. "We look forward to welcoming guests for this exciting new season and introducing them to our updated look."

Jeff Lincoln of Manhattan-based Jeff Lincoln Interiors, Inc. spearheaded the lobby renovation with the goal of keeping the hotel's classic and timeless original design intact while giving the lobby a subtle update. Early photos of The Otesaga revealed that the lobby originally had exposed wood floors, which became the starting point for the renovation. Hand-scraped oak floors were installed throughout to provide a solid backdrop for the updated furnishings and custom area rugs. Existing furniture was recovered and refurbished, and hand-blocked floral linen curtains were added to impart a warm and inviting atmosphere with a residential feel.

The direction of the room renovation, which was led by Whitney Fisher from The W Group, was to incorporate the Federal style of the hotel with its graceful lines and minimalist design. The end result is a guestroom that is luxurious, understated and elegant that incorporates The Otesaga's beautiful surroundings. "We really made sure to accentuate the outdoors and the pristine lake by using window treatments that framed the view and allowed for total visual harmony," said Whitney Fisher. The color palette of the rooms emulate the summer season with warm yellows that represent the sun and blues that evoke the glistening lake. The bed with its solid cherry post headboard, soft cotton linens and custom woven blankets were added to inspire a sense of home and comfort.

The Otesaga Resort Hotel enlisted all U.S. designers and purchasing agents for the renovation with the majority of the new furnishings and all of the case goods made in the United States.
