Renovations Near Completion for the 74-key Historic Warwick San Francisco in California

. May 22, 2014

San Francisco, CA - May 22, 2014 - The historic Warwick Hotel, located just steps from the City's bustling Union Square neighborhood and its world-class shopping, theaters, and landmark attractions, is pleased to announce that its interior restyle is scheduled for completion June 15, 2014. Overseen by the renowned international design firm UXUS, the hotel's revitalization melds authentic history with modern hospitality to create an experience unlike any other.

"The Warwick San Francisco is a reflection of this diverse City - both its classic elements and its lively spirit. Our intention with the revival of the property is to create a welcoming and sophisticated home, where sincere hospitality is paramount," says Eric Halliday, General Manager of The Warwick San Francisco. "With each guest, our desire to have them fall in love with our City and The Warwick San Francisco."

With an innovative and artistic approach, the designers at UXUS created a contemporary, yet classic style to the property, honoring the hotel's roots with new life. Departing from the predictable and ordinary, the refashioned property displays a unique sense of place and embodies the spirit of the original 1913 Maryland Hotel-known as the "house of sunshine and hospitality."

Located just two blocks from San Francisco's iconic Union Square, The Warwick San Francisco is a residential-style hideaway offering guests a welcoming contrast to the bustling energy of downtown. The intimate and sophisticated design of the hotel's foyer coupled with the personalized service make guests feel as if they are entering an elegant mansion rather than a hotel. Refined, yet relaxing and still luxurious, the entryway evokes a serene feel layered with historical significance, featuring a fireplace with cozy seating areas, dramatic lighting, and reinvented architectural details. Patterns and textures in hues of greys, browns, and taupes are repeated throughout the space offering a nod to the hotel's original architect, Arthur Brown Jr.'s, iconic City Hall domed ceiling and the Beaux-Arts tradition of ornamental ironwork.

Each of the hotel's 74 individual guest rooms, which includes 20 graciously designed suites, have been refashioned with soft lighting, residential furnishings, and a refined color palate of greys and whites with pops of golden yellow and cobalt blue hues. Original headboards and armoires have been preserved, but updated in modern shades keeping a timeless look and feel while offering a contemporary design element. Historical photographs curated from the San Francisco Public Library archives adorn the walls.

A historic hotel for the modern traveler, The Warwick San Francisco offers many full-service conveniences and comforts to its guests. Every guestroom has been maximized for relaxation and comfort including air- conditioning, wireless internet, customizable pillow menu, spa-line bath amenities, 24-hour in-room dining, courtesy Town Car service to the Financial District, meeting facilities for up to 90 people - to name just a few. In addition, the hotel's friendly, in the know staff is eager to share their insider knowledge and curate a San Francisco experience as unique as each guest.

Beyond the exciting transformation of the hotel, The Warwick San Francisco will infuse new life and energy into downtown with its new dining and cocktail experiences. Aveline, the soon-to-be-opened dining concept by acclaimed chef Casey Thompson, will feature New Californian cooking, complemented by a vast array of unique yet approachable wines, beers, and cocktails. The menu at Aveline will offer vibrant dishes showcasing the bounty of Northern California farmers and purveyors while thoughtfully telling the story of Casey's professional path as a chef, her family, and heritage. Aveline displays a light, casual, and approachable setting complete with a special Chef's table offering diners views of the restaurant's open-air kitchen.

Across the hotel lobby and through the fireplace hearth, one can glimpse into The Warwick San Francisco's cocktail bar, The European Bar & Lounge. The bar name reflects sensibility and style, expertly mixing old with new, which is also reflected in the drink menu - featuring mostly European spirits, aperitifs, a selection of champagnes by the glass and bottle, lower-proof cocktails with a regional twist, as well as "Now & Then" pairings consisting of a contemporary cocktail served alongside a drink in its vintage form. Guests can also order a selection of bar bites from a bar-exclusive menu by Casey Thompson.
