World-class Events for Classical Music, Food & Wine, Sports and Wellness Make Gstaad A Lively Alpine Playground

GSTAAD, Switzerland - May 6, 2014 - If you thought Swiss resorts were quiet in the summer, take a look at Gstaad and the busy schedule The Alpina Gstaad has on tap for guests this year. When Gstaad's newest luxury hotel reopens for summer on June 6, it will offer special packages and programs for spa aficionados, nature lovers, foodies, wine connoisseurs, sports fans, music lovers and more.

Active travelers can choose from river rafting, paragliding, cycling or hiking up the nature trail on the Hornberg to view lovely Swiss wild flowers. Guests looking for a wellness experience can head to The Alpina Gstaad's 21,500-square-foot Six Senses Spa. Three Mountain Detox programs will be offered ranging from individualized nutritional and cleansing courses of therapy to a more medically stringent regimen with blood tests and Medical Heart Rate Variability (HRV) analysis. Also, two experts in the fields of Mindful Leadership and Sophrology, Christian Kurmann and Christian Turkier, will focus on mind and body with sessions and retreats for guests. Julian Balmer will once again teach traditional Hatha and Kundalini yoga, June 24 to 28. And The Alpina Gstaad's own highly-experienced resident practitioner Antonis Sarris, named "Best Masseur in the World" by Spa Finder in 2008, will lead a three-day "Five Elements Retreat" allowing guests to delve deeper into their inner selves through gentle movement, breathing exercises, guided meditation and treatments focusing on the five-element theory. The retreat starts at CHF 2,940 (or about US $3,335) for three nights' accommodations in a single Deluxe Room.
