Largest Hotel in Colorado Welcomes World's Largest Stock Show

The Sheraton Denver Downtown transforms to share the spirit of the West with guests

DENVER - January 30, 2014 - It's January in Denver, which means the Broncos aren't the only horses taking the town by storm. The 108th National Western Stock Show was in the Mile High City from January 11-26 and the Sheraton Denver Downtown joined in the celebration of Denver's Old West heritage. The largest hotel in Colorado transformed its lobby to welcome the world's largest stock show and its two-legged guests.

“We're always looking for ways to add value to our guests' experience and highlight elements that make us unique,” said Brian Noel, director of Food and Beverage. “Our Western heritage is on display during the Stock Show,” he continued.

The lobby entrance to the lounge was outfitted with a wooden porch and accessorized with items matching the Western motif: an old windmill, a wagon wheel, wooden barrels and a rustic metal milk carton; a theme carried throughout the lobby and into the Sheraton's 15|Fifty Restaurant. The makeover didn't stop there and the guest reception area near the front desk had its regular velvet ropes replaced with wooden fence posts to assist in corralling the arrival process.

In addition to the lobby makeover, the hotel's 16Mix cocktail lounge and 15|Fifty restaurant were also refashioned in honor of the event. The 16th Street Pedestrian Mall entrance to 16Mix had its windows painted to make the entrance resemble a saloon and proclaimed “Welcome Stock Show Visitors.” Inside, highboy rough wooden bar stools with barrels replaced the usual low top seating for a more rustic atmosphere.

The restaurant, also outfitted with a re-imagined Old West entryway complete with grain bags and a Western saddle, is always rotating its innovative selection. They were featuring Chicken and Waffle Sliders that were sure to satisfy even the hungriest of ranch hands - whole grain mustard, Stranahan's bourbon syrup, fried onions and fried chicken sandwiched between two fluffy waffles with a choice of side.

“There's a little more Western flavor in town this time of year and the Sheraton Denver Downtown is one place you can stop in for a taste,” added Noel.
