Westward Look Picks Top Employees for Industry Awards

Tucson resort spotlights catering, guest service and housekeeping team members

. December 31, 2013

Tucson, AZ - December 31, 2013 - Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort & Spa recognizes Tamara Westphall, Christopher McLaren and Lourdes Villa, its nominees for the 2013 Stars of the Industry Awards, managed by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. The three represented the resort and southern Arizona at a banquet honoring top hotel and resort employees from around the state.

Since joining the property in 2007 as an administrative assistant, Aussie Tamara Westphall has risen to catering and convention services manager. With Westphall's “whatever it takes” work ethic and 150% dedication, many of her customers will work only with her. Guests describe her as “professional, thorough, detail oriented” and that “she makes it all seem so easy.”

Though based at the front desk, Christopher McLaren can be found all over the resort, with a ready smile and a “yes” to any request. Starting as a student part-timer, McLaren has been lead concierge, valet, helped in reservations, served food and drink, delivered food and amenities for room service, worked in banquets and assisted accounting. McLaren was also recognized as June's Employee of the Month.

There is no hospitality without Housekeeping, and in 17 years at the property, Lourdes Villa has become a center of communications and right hand to the director. No matter what the request, Villa wins respect from all who work with her with calm positivity. She assists in translating for the property and keeps this essential department on track and running like clockwork.

“Tamara, Chris and Lourdes exemplify Wyndham's 'Count on Me' culture, which ensures that all of our guests have a great experience every day,” said David Yamada, general manager of Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa. “We're privileged to work with and learn from them, and to have them represent us along with the best in the industry.”
