Swissotel Hotels & Resorts to Manage New-build 400-room Swissotel Hangzhou, Expected to Open 2018

. October 17, 2013

Toronto, Canada - October 17, 2013 - Swissotel Hotels & Resorts, a leading brand in the FRHI Hotels & Resorts (FRHI) portfolio, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Hengli Management Co., Ltd to manage Swissotel Hangzhou, a new 400-room hotel being developed in China's Zhejiang provincial capital.

The hotel will enjoy a favorable Riverview location in the IOC project in Qianjiang Century CBD, adjacent to the Hangzhou Olympic Center and Exhibition Center. Qianjiang Century City is becoming the financial and business center of Hangzhou. The IOC project includes large scale meeting and convention facilities, hotels, high-end residences, Grade A offices, and commercial and retail premises. It is the core of the area. A 300-room Fairmont hotel will also open in the same complex.

Expected to open in 2018, Swissotel Hangzhou will join four Swissotel properties already successfully operating in China and is now the hotel brand's sixth property under development in the country, further expanding the Swissotel footprint in this key growth market. In total, FRHI has 20 hotels open or in varying stages of development in China.

"As one of China's top urban centers and a key coastal hub, Hangzhou is an ideal market for our Swissotel product," said Jennifer Fox, president, FRHI International. "The local economy continues to grow at a rapid pace and the destination is also a top draw for leisure travel given its reputation as one of China's most beautiful cities."

Upon opening, Swissotel Hangzhou will feature 400 well-appointed guestrooms, four contemporary dining outlets, a Pürovel Spa & Sport facility offering Alpine-inspired treatments and exercise programming, and approximately 21,500 square feet (2,000 square meters) of meeting and function space. The development will also house 400 serviced apartments, which will be operated under the brand's residential concept, Swissotel Living.

"We are delighted to be working on another hotel project with Zhong An Real Estate Co. Ltd and Hengli Management Co., Ltd and see them as strategic partners as we look to grow our leading hotel brands throughout China and the Asia Pacific region," added James Kaplan, senior vice president, development, Asia Pacific & India, FRHI. "They share our vision of developing world-class hotels that are market leaders and we look forward to strengthening our relationship with them in the future."
