266 Hospitality Students Receive Scholarships
$403,500 Awarded Via AH&LEF's Core Scholarship Programs
Washington - October 4, 2013 — The American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF), the not-for-profit affiliate of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), awarded 266 scholarships, totaling $403,500, through three of its core programs - the Annual Scholarship Grant, Incoming Freshman Scholarship, and Graduate Scholarship programs.
The Annual Scholarship Grant Program, the Foundation's biggest program, is co-administered with 85 universities and colleges. In 2013, 237 students, nominated by AH&LEF-affiliated schools, received $318,500 in funds. The program is funded from proceeds of the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), the Foundation's Annual Giving Campaign, previous AH&LEF capital campaigns, annual special events, as well as the following scholarship funds:

This is the sixth year for two new AH&LEF scholarships - incoming hospitality management freshmen and graduate students. Nineteen incoming freshmen received scholarships totaling $35,000, and 10 graduate students received $5,000 scholarships. In total, AH&LEF awarded $528,000 to 339 hospitality management students through its 10 academic scholarship programs this year.
