Forrestperkins Receives Prestigious International Hotel Award for the St. Regis Houston

. September 24, 2013

Washington, DC - September 24, 2013 - ForrestPerkins, an interior design and architecture firm that specializes in luxury hotels, resorts and multi-residential properties, has been selected to receive a 2013-2014 International Hotel Award, sponsored by Virgin Atlantic, in the Americas regional competition for its glamorous designs for The St. Regis Houston in Houston, Texas. ForrestPerkins competed against many other design firms in the United States to receive this recognition. Successful entrants have been invited to attend a high-profile gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on November 3rd where the winning companies will learn which level of achievement they have obtained.

A stunning "magic carpet" chandelier in the ballroom, a cascading chandelier of feather-like glass elements suspended over the grand stair, a new undulating reception desk with embedded backlit Swarovski crystals, and guest rooms with lovely custom-designed stenciled details on the ceilings are among the innovative design elements that make The St. Regis Houston unique. The fact that ForrestPerkins captured the essence of "exquisite eccentricity" that the owners requested and made the hotel feel simultaneously regal and relaxed sets this AAA Five Diamond luxury hotel in a league of its own.

"It is gratifying to be recognized for the design of this great luxury hotel by an international organization. We enjoyed the opportunity to incorporate beautiful yet bold modern design elements to enliven a revered Houston icon," says Deborah Lloyd Forrest, FASID, president of ForrestPerkins.

Stuart Shield, president of the International Hotel Awards says, "Every country has a separate rating system for the standard of its hotels, but the International Hotel Awards have provided a global standard to even the mark from country to country. We welcome the Americas winners in joining this prestigious international club of exceptional hotels and resorts."

All of the winners in the Americas region have won at a national level and will be announced as either a Highly Commended or 5-Star winner at the event. The 5-Star winners will be placed under further examination and just one from each category will be selected to represent the Americas region on an international level. The highest-scoring regional winners will compete against other regional winners from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, UK and Europe to find the ultimate World's Best in each category.
