U.S. Travel Lauds Napolitano's Work as DHS Secretary

. September 09, 2013

WASHINGTON - September 9, 2013 - Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, released the following statement on departing Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.

"The travel community endured no shortage of challenges over the last few years, but thankfully we had the right leader at the right time. Through budget sequestration, unforeseen aviation incidents and continuing post-9/11 security concerns, Secretary Napolitano calmly and deftly navigated the most difficult of issues. The fortunes of travelers steadily improved under her guidance.

"Secretary Napolitano helped preserve travel as a critical driver of America's economic recovery. She was instrumental in advancing a number of winning policies, including the expansion of critical travel programs such as Pre✓™, Global Entry and the Visa Waiver Program, as well as urging sensible immigration reform. She clearly understood the importance of making travel in America a safer, more welcoming experience for all.

"We thank Secretary Napolitano for her leadership and service and wish her the best as president of the University of California system."
