August 9, 2013 - On August 23rd the landmark Omni Severin Hotel, Indianapolis's longest running luxury hotel, will officially celebrate its Centennial. For the last century, the hotel has embodied the grandeur of its day, and offered guests modern amenities and superior service that guests have come to expect from the Omni brand. To commemorate this momentous occasion, the Omni Severin is hosting a special Georgia Street block party for guests and locals alike, and will offer a weekend “Centennial Rate” for travelers through the remainder of 2013.

Built in 1913 by Henry Severin, the property was originally named the Hotel Severin. On Aug. 22, 1913, the hotel held its first event - the Christamore Settlement Ball - and a day later, Congressman James E. Watson was the first person to sign the hotel guest register. Since that time, the hotel has hosted more than one million guests. From past U.S. presidents and royalty, to Hollywood celebrities and music legends, many have enjoyed this finely appointed AAA Four-Diamond property.

The hotel changed ownership several times through the decades, and was ultimately acquired by Omni Hotels & Resorts in 1990. Since then, it has undergone multi-million dollar renovations including an overhaul of its 400 rooms and suites, and transformation of its eateries-now known as 1913 Restaurant, a rustic, farm-to-table restaurant featuring local and regional food influenced from restaurant menus that one would have experienced in the early 1900s; the Severin Bar, a premier sports bar within easy walking distance to major sports venues; and the Wine Thief, a casual but elegant wine bar with seating area that Omni calls “Indy's Best Living Room.”

Guests and locals wishing to join the celebration are welcome to attend the hotel's “Centennial Event,” a special public block party on Georgia Street, adjacent to the Omni. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, patrons will enjoy live swing band music, classic cars on display, food and drinks, and interaction with the hotel's staff who will be donning garb reflective of the early 1900s. Furthermore, the Omni Severin will offer guests a “Centennial Rate” of $100 per night on the weekends for the remainder of the year.
