WASHINGTON, DC - July 29, 2013 - Melrose Georgetown Hotel - a reinvented Georgetown hotel that defines distinct innovative service in a stylish, chic ambiance - has completed a much-buzzed-about multi-million dollar renovation. First opened in 1980, the one-time hangout of D.C. society has rebounded onto the Capital's social scene, bringing in Leo A Daly Dallas design firm for a tour-de-force redesign that includes a renaming, a bold public space, a newly concepted restaurant and lounge - Jardenea, sleek guest rooms and a luxury library boasting more than 1,000 classic titles.

“A subtle way to add luxury is tactile and textural variety, whether by blending traditional and modern elements or using contrasting materials,” says interior designer Pat Miller of Leo A Daly Dallas. “We updated the hotel to make it streamlined and au current, using bold graphic patterns to complement the stone floors while giving a nod to 1930's Georgetown with vintage photographs.”

High contrast tones of parchment and gunmetal grays were selected and integrated with pops of patriotic power colors - indigo blue, cinnabar and currency green to reflect the American heritage of the city - and the architectural finish materials - stone flooring, vibrant dark woods and granite accents. Inspired by the mythological griffin, with a body combination of half eagle and half lion symbolizing intelligence and strength - the power of two, which encompass the Melrose Georgetown Hotel experience, the hotel uses the symbol of the griffin to signify the guiding principles of the hotel - power, vigilance, courage and determination. The griffin is embedded into the façade on the front of the building, the entry flooring and throughout the hotel.

Formerly known as The Melrose Hotel, the hotel's revamped presence in the stylish Georgetown district influenced the renamed Melrose Georgetown Hotel. “We wanted to update the hotel to appeal to today's cosmopolitan traveler while keeping the historic tradition and unique qualities of Washington, D.C.,” says General Manager Jale Hashimi. “We brought in Leo A Daly Dallas design firm to tap into the unexpected atmosphere. Each guest embarks on an empowering stay that is elegantly smooth in delivery at Melrose Georgetown Hotel.”

The once-traditional interiors now have a nouveau color palette and a museum-worthy art collection that couples classic photographs with stylized prints and chromatic artwork. Located in the lobby, a luxury library boasts more than 1,000 classic titles in a rich environment that ensures a private haven for bibliophiles. Hand-selected to enhance the mythical experience of the hotel, the extensive collection offers titles that promise guests the tales of legendary creatures, ancient folklore, secrets of power, the ascension of famed historical figures, the history of Washington, D.C. and the path to intelligence. Outfitted with ambient lighting and semi-private alcoves, slick leather seating areas allow for private conversations and plug and play nooks.

Interior designer Pat Miller filled the 240 guestrooms with contemporary acrylic artwork displays and clean-lined furnishings in a soothing palette of grey, navy and cream accented with green. Featuring an upscale 'contempo' design, full built-in plug-and-play workstations and ample lighting were incorporated to cater to the needs of the business traveler, while plush bedding and pillow-top mattresses promise a restful night.

In November 2012, Melrose Georgetown Hotel revealed the new farm-to-fork Jardenea restaurant, offering a seasonally-driven menu focused on using as many locally- and regionally-sourced ingredients as possible. Featuring cooling colors, sharp lines, striking patterns and dramatic artwork, the lavishly furnished Jardenea presents an imaginative, comfortable and intimate environment. Heading Jardenea is Executive Chef Nate Lindsay, a young chef who has moved quickly through the ranks since making his culinary debut, chosen over more experienced chefs to head the new restaurant. Communal table options and fresh herb centerpieces evoke the feel of family dinners, while a wall display of vintage plates and painted chandeliers on suspended glass panels provide a dimension of privacy and suggest an elegant capriciousness that is characteristic of the new restaurant's innovative delivery.

The reinvented Melrose Georgetown Hotel defines distinct, innovative service in a stylish, chic ambiance. 240 spacious rooms and suites are filled with contemporary, D.C.-inspired artwork and clean-lined furnishings in a bold palette of grey, navy and cream, creating lustrous accommodations. Signifying the hotel's guiding principals, the Griffin emblem represents Melrose Georgetown Hotel's prevailing, inventive and effectual experience and is woven throughout the hotel space, decor and service offerings.
