AAHOA Vice Chairman Pratik Patel Honored at AH&LA Award Ceremony
ATLANTA - May 1, 2013 - The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) announced the winners of the John Whitaker Award and the State Leadership Awards during the first day of the association's 2013 Legislative Action Summit (LAS) in Washington, D.C. The State Leadership Awards were created in 1998 to honor standout members in each partner state association who help implement and strengthen programs. Award recipients, who are chosen by AH&LA's partner state associations, hailed from over 15 states across the nation.
AAHOA's Vice Chairman and South Central Texas Regional Director Pratik R.Patel, MBA/MSIS/CHA/CHO, was the recipient of the State Leadership Award for his strong support of the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association. Pratik is a second-generation hotelier raised in San Antonio, Texas and President of JMP Hospitality Inc., which includes branded hotel properties such as Accor, IHG, and Wyndham. He has been an active member of the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association since 2007, where he currently serves on the board of directors. In 2008 Pratik was also nominated to serve with the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association, and in 2011 was nominated to represent the Texas Lodging properties in AH&LA. Pratik attributes the success of Texas to the continued support of the AAHOA Ambassadors and AAHOA's prolific relationship with Scott Joslove, TH&LA President and CEO. In 2011, Pratik was elected to Secretary of AAHOA and currently serves as Vice-Chairman. He first served on the AAHOA Board of Directors when he was elected as the South Central Texas Regional Director in 2010, a position he still maintains. Pratik currently lives in San Antonio with his wife, Akta, and his two daughters, Jayna and Misha.
